What is One Piece Film: Red about?
The story is set on the Elegia Music Island where Uta, one of the most important divas in the worldmakes his first live and direct concert. All fans, pirates and marines gather to enjoy the voice of Uta, which has been described as something ‘out of this world’.
However, the event begins with the shocking revelation that Uta is the daughter of Red-Haired Shanks, an iconic One Piece character who returns after many years, thus anticipating great revelations regarding this beloved character.
Is it part of the canon of the anime series?
Mangaka Eiichiro Oda has written part of the film’s script, so fans are inevitably wondering whether or not it is part of the canon of the anime series. But in a nutshell, One Piece Film: Red not part of the canon. Oda prefers to handle the main story up his sleeve at the moment, which means the movie is just there for the enjoyment of fans with no connections to the main story.
However, that does not mean that One Piece Film: Red will not have fragments of important scenes from the canon of One piece. One Piece: Stampede revealed the name of the last destination of the Grand Line before the manga did. Given the One Piece Film: Red will feature Shanks, fans can expect something similar with the movie.
