Silao, Guanajuato, on September 12, 2022. More than 30 years after closing its doors, the old Montes Cinema evolves and becomes the Silao de la Victoria Theater, located at Calle Álvaro Obregón Sur 33, Zona Centro.

The Silao de la Victoria Theater is part of the cultural and historical heritage of the State of Guanajuato, which is added to the 24 already existing, among which the Juárez Theater, Manuel Doblado, Bicentennial, Minas Theater, among others.

Juan José Álvarez Brunel, Secretary of Tourism of the State of Guanajuato, was present at the inauguration of this new Theater that will be the stage for Great Stories in Silao de la Victoria; and reiterated its support for the Municipal Government headed by Carlos García Villaseñor to continue with the rescue of this Theater, in addition to congratulating the people of Silao for their interest in recovering this space that will be part of the shows at the 50th edition of the Cervantino International Festival.

The rescue of the now Silao de la Victoria Theater was made with municipal resources and will serve to mark a new stage in this large and beautiful venue where citizens can enjoy culture and the arts. In this first stage, walls, furniture, dressing rooms, bathrooms and facade were rehabilitated.

During the inauguration, Carlos García Villaseñor, first Edil, made a remembrance of the history of the arrival of Cinema in Mexico, in Guanajuato, and later in Silao, being in 1959 when the Montes Cinema opened its doors to the public for the first time. .

He recalled that businesses such as Tortas Cata and Tacos Anita witnessed the opening and closing of Cine Montes and that they are still in force, delighting Silaoans with their gastronomy.

Currently the Theater has more than 500 seats, in this opening; however, it is expected to reach, in its second stage, 1,100 seats so that the same number of spectators can experience the magic in this impressive place.

Pili González Gutiérrez, queen crowned in 1984 in this venue, shared with the spectators what it was like for her to live that moment and how important this cinema meant for that time; and she congratulated the municipal president for betting on her rescue and making this building, which was so important for the city, once again be part of the history of Silao.

The State of Guanajuato, together with the 2021-2024 Administration of Silao, is committed to promoting the Triple Helix -education, culture and sports- to restore the social fabric through actions that bring society closer to these three areas .

The inauguration of the Silao de la Victoria Theater was adorned with the music of the Colmena UG Symphony Orchestra and the student band of the University of Guanajuato.
